ABOUT US
Our classes are taught by NRA Certified Basic Pistol Instructors Derek & Jennifer Blake a husband and wife team of lifelong, experienced shooters. Derek & Jen are also NRA Range Safety Officers to ensure everyone on the range practices proper procedures and safe gun handling.
WHY TAKE THIS COURSE?
1. Because you want to know how to correctly & safely own, operate and clean your pistol. Learn the fundamentals of target alignment, stance and shooting. From beginners to experienced shooters, everyone will learn something and improve their skills.
2. Because FBI and Justice Department studies show that crime has increased over 500% since 1960. A violent crime occurs every 22 seconds in this country. A rape every 5.8 minutes. A murder every 34 minutes. Sex offenders are out of control and growing in numbers. Half of all Americans will be robbed or burglarized in their lifetimes. For the first time in our nation's history, one in every 32 adults is either in prison, jail, on parole, or probation. It is not a question of IF you and your family will come in contact with a violent criminal, but rather WHEN. Shouldn't you and your family be trained in advance?
This course is 12 hours long and includes 10hr classroom and 2hr range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate. Students will be equipped with EVERYTHING needed to apply for the Ohio CCW permit the very next day. Course meets & exceeds Ohio requirements.
ADDED BONUS TO NRA COURSE: Our Instructors are also certified in Personal Protection in the Home and teach self defense with a pistol, tactics, shooting and holster draws.
